If you ever wanted to know what it would be like to be a roboteer, then this is the perfect opportunity. A chance to work as a team to build a real robot before taking it into battle - great hands-on family fun. This unique experience teaches the participants how robots work using Science & Technology and is suitable for ages 7 years and upward.
Arena Two is where the professionals do battle behind a bullet proof screen. These machines have to be seen to be believed! Some are fitted with angle grinders and powerful flippers...all intent on being the last one standing!
More information can be found here.

Well the UK Championships will certainly go down in history as an event be remembered, now its time for the FRA 2012 Featherweight Awards!

Robo Challenge will be hosting an open day on December 8th & 9th. As well as being the ceremony for our 2012 awards the open day will be open to everyone and is designed to get people inspired, learning and ready to build! We plan to invite guests to run mini seminars on everything from learning about low and high pressure pneumatics & how to build reliable spinners to tech check training and how to build an inspiring robot. Its going to be a fantastic day and we hope as many of you as possible will be able to make it. We also plan to have a few facilities available so people can bring their robots to test and get some help with any problems.

The fee will be £10 per head to cover the costs of putting the event on.

So on Saturday we will have our seminars/talks during the day and awards in the evening. Sunday will be some whiteboard action in the arena and things like CO2 training and tech check advice etc.

Each seminar will be hosted by a successful veteran roboteer and will cover important topics to really spread knowledge through the community. They will not be weight class specific and we will be working closely with each presenter to help them give everything they need to get the most knowledge from them. Each seminar will be roughly 30-60 mins long and between the sessions there will be time to implement or take note of the points that you feel would best help your team back in our make shift pits area.

As previously announced our first workshop will be held by Sam Smith (Current FW UK Champion). An extraordinary engineer who creates machines that appear to have been formed at NASA. His engineering and design knowhow I feel is the best in our sport, and his ability to create a machine that hits hard yet keeps on going is mesmerising. Sam will be delving into the depths of his designs and creations to really pinpoint what has made his machine successful and reliable. Im certainly looking forward to him giving away his secrets!

As mentioned our workshop is tight on space so please be aware when you arrive. As we will have to scrape together chairs and tables if you have your own that you can bring that would be a big help. Camping chairs are great.

We will provide tea and coffee for all and a few snacks. Please bring a packed lunch for lunch alternatively at star city you can get all sorts to eat and its about 1 mile away.

Please find below the link to the 2012 FRA Awards. The nominees for each category are now available and have been compiled by the FRA and Robo Challenge for you to vote on. Voters must be a member of the FRA and each person gets one vote. Any multiple entries will be deleted. Good luck to all the robots that have been nominated and we do hope to see you at the Robo Challenge Open day.

http://robochallenge.co.uk/Events_and_Engineering/FRAawards.html

Kane will also be adding the form to the FRA site.

If you wish to buy tickets for this event you can do so below. Please note due to the nature of the event tickets are limited and will be on a first book first serve basis.

Thank you and we very much hope to see you there.
