CHEIL, CONVERSE
CONVERSE CHUCK STOP
BRIEF
When London-based PR agency Cheil set out to make a lasting impression on Converse enthusiasts, they needed a truly innovative idea centered around the iconic Chuck Converse shoes. The concept was to develop a skateboard-sharing system akin to the famous "Boris Bikes" but with a unique twist: skateboards would be available for loan exclusively to individuals wearing specially adapted Converse Chucks.
Recognising the urgency of the project, Cheil promptly enlisted the expertise of Robo Challenge to transform this creative vision into a tangible reality. With a mere week to devise a solution, our team sprung into action. We designed and crafted a distinctive skateboard rack while also modifying a pair of Converse Chucks by integrating RFID tags into them. The final system worked seamlessly: users wearing the adapted Chucks could approach the skateboard rack, which would instantly recognise them, and then release a skateboard for their use.
WHAT WE DID
The innovative fusion of iconic footwear with skateboard sharing proved to be an engaging and attention-grabbing concept. By successfully bringing this idea to life within a tight timeframe, Robo Challenge contributed to Cheil's mission to infuse an intriguing innovation into the iconic Converse Chuck shoes. This achievement was celebrated with the awarding of a prestigious Bronze Chuck Trophy, signifying the project's successful execution and its lasting impact on the world of footwear and consumer engagement.
